Yes, this is a picture of De La Soul action figure and yes, they are expensive. Got $200 & some? Kidrobot is the place.
Do you like to read? Do you like to read about math, science and...pirates? Neal Stephenson, author of Crytponomicon & other nerdy adventure stories, throws down a trilogy of bo-hemoth proportions called the Baroque Cycle, of which Quicksilver is the first. I'm reading it. I like it. If you were here right now you'd see that I'm giving it the thumbs up.

I bought some Chewy Spree this afternoon & as I stepped out of the liquor store, two pieces of candy in my mouth, the bus goes by & OUCH, my cheek is bleeding on the inside. What a great story.
In no way related to that, I think that the Typepad weblogs look pretty great. I wish mine looked that good. My friend Kyle has had one for a month or two & although I'm sure Mary told me about it, I never looked at it until this evening. It reminds me of me but better, much better.
And on Kyle's weblog I found a link to Jacques Tati's website, which is very nice, indeed.
Touch And Go Records is very proud to announce that legendary Louisville, KY musical pioneers Slint will reunite to perform at and curate the first weekend of All Tomorrow's Parties of 2005, on February 25th, 26th and 27th at Camber Sands Holiday Centre, East Sussex, UK. Core Slint members Brian McMahan, David Pajo and Britt Walford will be selecting a first class line-up of performers for the weekend and will themselves be playing music from their albums "Tweez" and "Spiderland," as well as their untitled ten-inch single. Although Slint disbanded soon after the 1991 release of the acclaimed "Spiderland," their unique style of music went on to inspire and influence an ever-widening legion of fans. Now, for the first time since their separation, Slint returns to perform live for this very special edition of All Tomorrow's Parties. The response to rumors of this unexpected performance has indicated tickets will go fast, so our advice is to grab yours while you can. Tickets go on sale on Friday, October 15th, 10am GMT. Full line-up details will be announced in the coming months.

Of all of the times to be flat broke.
How come I can not care so much & than care too much? I already know neither of my home teams are going to the World Series. Now it looks like the chances of my adopted home team going are slipping away. The Yankees seem unstoppable, those jerks.

I have a class called Graduate Seminar where all we do is go look at art & talk to artists & curators & it's really great. It's pretty Art School. Today we visited the Rose Museum at Brandeis University, talked to curator Raphaela Platow & looked at work by Yun-Fei Ji, Francisco Clemente & William Kentridge. All three worth checking.
Also, on the internet today I came across the work of Oliver Sieber, who makes mostly straight-forward portraits in a very German, Thomas Ruff-kind of way plus pictures of empty band practice spaces. Hooray for Dusseldorf!

I went to the Big E - Eastern States Exposition, ate fried dough, had a bee land on my nose, pointed at a 987lb pumpkin, saw a stunt show (watch as these daring men defy the laws of gravitation!), ate amazing Indian food, had a surprise party that wasn't really a surprise (oops), drank beer. Good times.
This evening I discovered that the theater where I saw my first movie (Love At First Bite w/George Hamilton) in Des Plaines, which know shows Bollywood movies, has been slated for renovation & may be returned to its original, one screen configuration. The Des Plaines Theatre Preservation Society is planning on showing classic Hollywood features & shorts.
