The Pace is Glacial

You'd think that, without the pressure of an actual, living, breathing readership, the pressure dial reading nil, that I'd feel free to fill this space with something, anything, words run wild, etc. Instead, here's some things I've been interested in for the past couple of days, filling those many moments between actual art-making (drawing/photo-ing) with this intranet.

1971 Topps Baseball Cards - cool-looking huh?
Paintings by Jim Houser - one of the founders of Space1026 in Philly. Short interview at Crownfarmer here.
The new Four Tet LP "Ecstatic Everything"
Drawing From Life: The Journal as Art - A look into the journals of a few contemporary artists. Inspiration abounds.
Mitch Epstein's Recreation project - book out now.

Insert Appropriate Meta-Title Here

There seems to be some sort of hubbub over Columbia MFA grad Kerry Skarbakka. He did a falling piece in front of an audience at the MCA this past week. I can't say that I'm a fan of Kerry's work but that this sort of reaction seems to be par for the course when dealing with any sort of sensitive/controversial issues is unfortunate. One of the people quoted in the NY Daily News story actually suggests that he's mocking the events of 9/11. Unbelieveable. Brian points us to a slightly more balanced local report. Probably not coincidentally, Kerry is on the cover of the newest Aperture magazine.

The Friedlander retrospective that opens Monday at the MOMA has 500 (!) images in it. The accompanying book has, s'gulp, 825 images in it! Every one of them gold, probably. NYT review here. Image from the Fraenkel Gallery.
